Call for Papers: Design in the Philosophy of Information

One of my interests has always been in the philosophy of information as embodied in Luciano Floridi’s ongoing PI project, especially his Principia Philosophiae Informationis. So I am particularly happy to share this new call for papers from guest editor Ken Herold on the philosophy of information and design to be published as a forthcoming special issue of Library Trends.

SPECIAL ISSUE ON DESIGN IN THE PHILOSOPHY OF INFORMATION

GUEST EDITOR: KEN HEROLD

Manuscript Deadline:  1 AUGUST  2024

_________________________________________________

This new Library Trends special issue further pursues the Philosophy of Information within the context of opportunities for interdependent research scenarios among LIS and the philosophy-oriented English-language community of information scholarship.

This call for frameworks and paradigm-building principles of design continues the series Library Trends has endorsed and will be submitted as Volume 73, Number 3.

This special issue of Library Trends provides the opportunity to examine cross-disciplinary research with philosophy of design and information:

1) metatheoretical issues concerning a design paradigm in LIS;

2) methodological aspects of LIS in theory and practical design;

3) the information-turn in LIS generally and the Library Trends issues above;

4) design issues in specific areas of LIS regarding the philosophy of information, AI, holistic epistemology, philosophy of shared memory, and curation.

This full call for papers will remain open until the issue is assembled.  Accepted authors will be notified before 31 AUG 2023.

Please share widely.
